Benefits of Getting a Facial Routinely

By: Our Team

There are numerous benefits in adding facials to your skincare routine. It is important to know that facials are more than just a time to relax and calm your mind from the day-to-day stresses of life, although that is one of the major benefits to keep in mind when getting a facial. Here are 4 major benefits of adding facials to your skincare routine.

Benefit #1 - Relieving Stress

Did you know that we can carry stress in various parts of the body and our skin can be one of those? Skin is the largest organ of the human body, so it is understandable how factors like stress can determine how our skin looks and feels. Stress is known to cause acne breakouts, dark or puffy undereye bags, and can even create inflammation in the skin. So, I think it is safe to say that finding time to allow yourself to be in a relaxing environment on top of all the other benefits of having a facial is very important.

Benefit #2 – Boosting Collagen

Collagen production is very important for keeping a youthful glow to your skin. In this category I want to talk about the importance of preventative skincare. Preventative skincare is when an individual does treatments to prevent things from happening to the skin a lot sooner than it would if we didn’t add any beneficial things to our routine. Our collagen levels drop as we age, many don’t realize that collagen levels drop by 1% each year after we have reached our mid to late twenties. With those statistics by the age of forty-five you have lost 25-30% of collagen. It is important to note that when collagen drops the elasticity of the skin also decreases. This will cause fine lines and wrinkles to develop in certain areas of the skin. Many different types of facials can help boost collagen. If you are a young individual looking to promote and maintain your collagen production, I would recommend getting a facial every 4 to 6 weeks on average. If you are someone who has very sensitive skin, depending on what type of facial services you are receiving, I recommend getting treatment every 3 months.

Benefit #3 – Hydrating the skin

Hydration is one of the most important things for many different parts of our body to make it function properly as a whole. Although it can help tremendously, drinking water may not be the only thing your skin needs to stay hydrated and healthy. Facials are the perfect way to maintain hydration in the skin, and even promote healthy blood circulation. The first being the facial massage, this increases blood flow in the skin and in return increases the levels of hydration in the skin. Facials also help to get the dead skin off of the surface and remove dirt and oils from our pores, all of which help products be able to go deeper into the skin and allow it to get the full benefit of the facial, along with hydrating masks. The elasticity of the skin will decrease with dehydration, which can cause premature aging. Skin elasticity allows your skin to be stretched with the ability to bounce back into its proper place, in which, the skin's ability to bounce back is less likely when dehydration occurs.

Benefit #4 – Feeding the skin proper nutrients

There are many different products, ingredients, and techniques performed in a facial treatment. It is important to know that facials are not a one size fits all. There are many different people with different skin issues and it’s important to make sure that there is a treatment plan in place to ensure that your skin gets the proper nutrients and care that it needs. Let’s talk a little bit about peptides. Peptides are strings of amino acids which are the building blocks that make up the proteins in our body that serve to create new collagen and elastin in our skin. Peptides in our skincare routine are vital to keeping our collagen and elastin in place. They can be found in all different skin care products such as cleansers, serums, under eye creams, and moisturizers. Key ingredients that help collagen and elastin are found in enzymes. Enzymes help breakdown keratin in the outer layer of the skin, which helps gently shed the dead skin from the epidermis (top layer of skin). So, making sure your skin gets the proper vitamins and minerals that it needs to flourish is the most important benefit to getting monthly facials.
